" {You can} easily position the Lens and evaluate the sound immediately, in real time. Repositioning the Lens is as easy as pulling it loose from its current location and sticking it somewhere else " In the past, we have exclusively used Barge© contact cement to mount the Acoustic Lens to the bridgeplate of the guitar. This sometimes made the installation process difficult, because it added the element of time to the process. It takes time (sometimes up to four days) for the cement to cure enough to properly evaluate the sound of the installed pickup. If the pickup was moved during the curing time, or not quite installed in the proper location to begin with, it had to be removed and the process repeated again. There was no way to listen to the results of your handiwork until the cement had cured, and your favorite guitar was out of commission until the installation process was complete. This was clearly not the ideal installation procedure, but the payoff when completed was an acoustic tone that many players, both amateur and professional, felt was the best that was available anywhere. We tried a number of other methods of adhering the Lens to the bridgeplate but were always disappointed with the results; there was often a drop in volume, or a radical shift in the tone of the pickup, or both. We were unable to find a suitable replacement for the Barge cement for a very long time, but continued the search. After months of extensive searching and testing we have found a material that so closely simulates the rich, warm tone of the glue we use here at the factory, that we were virtually unable to hear the difference. This special tape allows you to easily position the Lens and evaluate the sound immediately, in real time. Repositioning the Lens is as easy as pulling it loose from its current location and sticking it somewhere else. Once you have found an appropriate mounting spot, you can use the Barge© contact cement included to make a final installation.
Never has it been so easy to install, fine tune and enjoy the awesome tonal quality of the Lens. We are proud and pleased to make this significant advancement available to our customers. Download a copy of these new install instructions
